CityTeam Ministries is Hiring a Development Officer Near San Jose, CA

Description

CityTeam is currently looking for a major gift fundraising professional to join our Development Team. We are looking for a professional with experience in working with major donors at a mid to large size nonprofit organization. You will be an outstanding storyteller, connecting donors’ passions and giving to CityTeam’s mission and ministries. The Development Officer will provide expertise and leadership with donor proposals. The Development Officer will work closely with the VP of Development and CityTeam President to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donor relations with major donors. Your primary focus will be on increasing donor commitment to CityTeam and our mission, as demonstrated by increased engagement and giving.

In addition to providing leadership with major gift development, you will assist with CityTeam initiatives as we start our new fiscal year. The Development Officer will connect and inspire generous CityTeam partners with opportunities to be involved with our mission in financial and hands on ways.

The Development Officer will not only bring a wealth of major gift fundraising experience, but will also demonstrate a commitment to Christ and the mission of Cityteam. Our ideal candidate will have a heart for men, women and children, be passionate about CityTeam, and have the connections, experience, and influence necessary to bring substantial growth to CityTeam’s major gift donor base.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ministry

1. Provide strategic leadership and work cooperatively with Marketing to create CityTeam’s major donor communication materials.

2. Identify prospective major donors through CityTeam’s current donors as well as other corporate, church, professional, and relational networks.

3. Cultivate new and prospective donors through a Moves Management process including regular and strategic interactions and engagement with key CityTeam leaders including program staff and the President.

4. Meet income and activity goals including face-to-face meetings, tracking development activities in Raiser’s Edge, and meaningful connections.

5. Provide reports regarding goals, objectives, and other measured data to VP of Development.

6. Engage in growth and development of CityTeam’s affinity groups

7. Represent CityTeam as a speaker in churches, service clubs, professional organizations, Christian organizations, corporations, and volunteer groups.

8. Identify planned giving prospects and engage them in CityTeam’s planned giving resources

9. Supervise and coordinate proposal-writing efforts from prospect to gracious gift acknowledgment.

10. Provide support to President, VP of Development, and the Development Team as necessary.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

· 4-year degree

· 5-year minimum experience with fundraising and donor development

· Entrepreneurial and self-directed

· Track record of cultivating trust-based relationships that allows them to influence and mobilize colleagues and partners

· Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean record

· Computer literate

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

· Familiarity with social media and digital communication

· Professional written and spoken communication skills

· Proficiency speaking to small and large groups of people

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with donors, board members, staff, volunteers, and vendors

Preferred Education and Experience

· Advanced degree

· Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE)

· Experience with non-profit fundraising/development

· Familiarity with CityTeam, addiction, and homelessness

· Familiarity with Raisers Edge or other management software

· Experience with or exposure to marketing, branding, and communications functions

Work Conditions

· This role will regularly travel to donor meetings and meet in a variety of venues, including churches, restaurants, offices, and homes

· This job occasionally operates in a professional office environment

· Days and hours of work will be determined between the candidate and hiring manager

Additional Eligibility Qualifications for CityTeam Ministries

· Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ

· Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community with other Christ-followers

· Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam's Statement of Faith

· Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ
